Smoothies are a great coffee or tea alternative, especially in the summer. Of course they’re refreshing and delicious, but also help boost energy and, depending on the ingredients, can give a healthy dosage of vitamins and antioxidants. Smoothies are simple to concoct and take less than five minutes to prep. What I like best about making my own at home is that I save A LOT of money as opposed to the 1000% markup of a Jamba Juice or Smoothie King and I know exactly what is going into my smoothie. They can also work as a meal replacement once a day and have great post-workout refueling power.
I found this great slideshow on the Better Homes and Gardens site. It definitely inspired me to chop some stuff up and blend.
