Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman. A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories. Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life.

Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself. A woman who listens to her needs and desires. Who meets them with tenderness and grace.

Imagine a woman in love with her own body. A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is. A woman who celebrates her rhythms and cycles as exquisite resources.

Imagine a woman who values the women in her life. A woman who sits in circles of women. Who is reminded of the truth about herself when she forgets.

Imagine yourself as this woman.

I read this poem right on time last week when I was just not in the best space. It helped, as poetry/music often does. Just a reminder of the importance of self-acceptance and showing yourself a little tenderness. And, applying it to my situation, unless it triggers a change for the better, never let anyone’s opinion of or actions toward you change how you view yourself. Giving that power to anyone else is dangerous.

It is your job to be aware of your worth and work on it whenever you see fit, clearing out those who deny it and understanding that self-love and self-care is a never-ending practice. And you’re allowed to waver from time to time.

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all you pillars of life! To the crazy aunts, teachers, huggers, activists, counselors, mentors, grandmas, coaches and mothers, I hope your day is as amazing as you are.

  1. Stop it!!! You got me in my feelings, girl…. 😭😭😭😭 Once again, I haven’t been on lately, but WordPress crossed my mind so I came to see what’s up. This post is right on time. This is still the fight of my life…..FOR my life. I keep forgetting how I’m not the ONLY one who’s experiencing what I’m experiencing. Why is it so easy to hold on to all the bad, unfavorable, hurtful things and forget all about the good, favorable, pleasant things? Thank you so much for sharing. I’m glad I decided to take a look on here today. 💖✨💖✨💖✨

    1. SO glad you decided to tune in and this resonated with you, sis!

I’m convinced it’s human nature to focus on the negative.. definitely an ongoing process to dismiss those nagging, useless feelings.
And I loved your oracle reading post on IG. I’ll be focusing my energy on what I need + want to manifest.

  2. Ugh I just love this so much Kelley. All of what you said just warmed my heart from the inside out. It IS a never-ending practice and we cannot beat ourselves up every time that we waiver, as you say. Self-acceptance isn’t a PEAK at the top of a mountain hill. Its the journey, which doesn’t end until our life ends. ❤
