Black Every Friday: Nubian Hueman

I know it’s been a minute since my last Black Every Friday post and really, I have no excuses. I just knew that when I returned, it’d have to be with a little heat.

I’m so excited to share with you a store and brand that I’ve been a fan of (read: stalking) for years now, yet never passed by or stepped through its doors. Nubian Hueman is located in the Anacostia Arts Center of Washington DC and not only is it a lovely boutique, but also a lounge, gallery and event space. I love its earthy, fresh, organic, homey, come on in vibe.

Self-described as: Nubian Hueman features cultural goods along with art of various mediums reflecting the African Diaspora and Black culture. Our myriad of talented designers bring ethnic influences to modern silhouettes and product lines by using traditional patterns or ingredients. We concentrate on (but are not exclusive to) brands and artists that provide growth opportunities and/or a portion of its proceeds to not-for-profit organizations, fair-trade, or socio-economic causes. The Nubian Hueman Boutique Lounge serves as a means to promote collective interaction, community development, and global responsibility through a fresh and artistic platform.

And, luckily for me (and you), Nubian Hueman has an online store as well! Whoo hoo! There’s plenty to shop from, from women’s clothing, accessories and footwear to home decor. To promote their grand reopening  and celebrate their four-year anniversary, NH is offering a discount of 15% off your entire purchase in-store when you present this post and online by using my code NuHueYr4GS beginning this evening (to coincide with the store’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Blogger Hour(wish I was there!!!) and first-come shopping offer) through September 21st! Whaaaaat! This is the perfect time to grab yourself or a loved one something fresh for the changing seasons or get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping. My birthday is quickly approaching, too, so please inbox me if you’re torn on how to surprise me. I mean there really are no bad choices here.

If you happen to be in the DC area and want to peep this magic in person and/or attend their relaunching festivities (thru September 18th), Nubian Hueman is located at 1231 Good Hope Rd SE. You can donate to their second location goals and expansion to include menswear, plus sizes, baby clothes and more here.  Lets support this beautiful Blacklove, Black owned and Black operated space, y’all! Happy shopping and congrats to Nubian Hueman on its fourth year!!

  1. Great store! Always Glad and Happy to support our African Sisters and brothers. I’ve been to The Chocolate City many times but did not know about this store. Anyway the next time I go hopefully with my brother Stephen I will check them out. In the meantime I will do some Online Shopping. I see some wonderful gifts that I can get my brother Stephen for Christmas. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Of course. Glad to hear it! I think it’d be a lovely experience to just stop in and see in person. I haven’t been to DC in almost 10yrs, but it’s on my radar now.

The discount code activates tonight. Happy shopping ❤
