week 41

pick me

I am choosing and not waiting to be chosen.

I’m following Sarahn Says’ October affirmation challenge and the above was from day 7. The thing with affirmations is not just writing them out, not just saying them aloud but sincerely believing and applying them through continuous action. This affirmation spoke loudly to me because I think folks make life harder (and boring-er) by choosing poorly, by waiting to be chosen. They surface from a bath of self-pity only to realize their life has passed them by due to inaction. I guess people don’t realize that their choices shape their lives? I, too, am guilty of it. It’s not always up to us, but when it is, waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen can set you up for disappointment.. or just waste a whole bunch of invaluable time.

We may jump at an opportunity because it’s new or we’re desperate or we think we need it. Instead, we should consciously move with purpose. Decide with reason. Choose people and things that personally work for us, our betterment, our environment—not just answer because opportunity knocked.

If you’ve been looking for a sign, this is it. Life is not a dating app where someone finally swipes right (or left?), so stop waiting for him to be ready and go out; make yourself available.  Stop wishing for that vacation and start saving and planning. Stop dreaming about that raise or promotion and ask for it.

State what you want. Believe in it, write it down and choose to actively go get it.

The choice is always yours.

  1. I love this! It’s so true, you have to ask for what you want and go and get it. All that time waiting could be used on trying to get what you want. Great post once again
